Climate Change Common Sense
September 9, 6:30 PM, South Bellevue Community Center
Join Eastside Audubon and Seattle Audubon for an informative evening about impacts of climate change in the Northwest and the “common sense” aspect of it all--in contrast to uninformed hysteria or defeatist apathy.
Speakers include State Representative Deb Eddy, Dr. Jonathan Harrington, author of The Climate Diet, and Brid Nowlan of the Washington Invasive Species Coalition and Audubon Washington.
Save Our Swifts!
Swift Night Out, 6:30 PM September 6, Frank Wagner School, Monroe WA
Eastside Audubon and Pilchuck Audubon have joined together to promote awareness about the thousands of Vaux's swifts that roost every fall in the chimney of Frank Wagner Elementary School in Monroe. Celebrate the arrival of these fascinating birds by joining us for Monroe Swift Night Out on Saturday September 6 beginning at 6:30 PM. There will be a lecture, docents to answer questions, snacks, drinks, and activities for the kids.

Audubon BirdLoop Grand Opening a Spectacular Success
The Eastside Audubon Bird Festival on August 2 celebrated a milestone in our chapter’s biggest ever project, the BirdLoop Nature Trail in Marymoor Park. Close to 200 visitors took part in bird, native plant and dragonfly walks and many more enjoyed the booths, kid’s activities, and music.West Nile Virus Update
Call your local county Health Department to report dead crows
Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been found in Yakima as of August 14, 2008. Inform your county Health Department if you find any dead birds, particularly crows, ravens, or jays. To report a dead bird in King County, call 206-205-4394 during business hours, or use the reporting form on their web site.
