Join Joe Meche for slides and stories about the birds of the Greater Puget Sound area and the diversity of habitats they frequent.

Did you know that Pacific Black Brant fly nonstop for more than 50 hours migrating from Alaska to Baja?  Ever see Great Blue Heron "impersonate" Double-crested Cormorants?

We invite you to share bird stories with Joe Meche, who has been watching birds for more than 50 years and capturing their beauty on film and videotape for more than 20 years.

Joe grew up in southwest Louisiana and has lived in Bellingham for the past 30 years, with stops along the way in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. When not pursuing and sharing his passion for birds, Joe is a cabinetmaker and a writer, who also plays and teaches guitar.

Joe is currently the Vice President of the North Cascades Audubon Society and also serves the chapter as newsletter editor and Birding Programs Coordinator.  He was formerly a member of the board of directors of the Washington Brant Foundation and currently works as a consultant for the City of Blaine promoting the area as a bird-watching destination.

Joe will entertain us with a slide-illustrated program featuring the birds of the Greater Puget Sound area and the diversity of habitats they frequent. The program will also serve as an introduction to the Peterson System of Field Identification.

Please join us Thursday, May 24 for Joe’s beautiful and fascinating presentation.  Come at 6:30 for the social hour.  Enjoy a brief monthly meeting and refreshments from 7:00 to 7:45, followed by Mr. Meche’s presentation.

The social hour, meeting, and presentation are free and open to the public.  Invite a friend or anyone who will enjoy learning about the birds of Puget Sound.
