Kelsey Creek Park
Getting There: The park is located at 410 130th Pl SE, Bellevue WA. From I-405, take the SE 8th Street exit (#12). Go east and follow road through light at Lake Hills Connector into residential area. Turn left at stop sign (128th Ave SE). Turn right at SE 4th Pl. Follow to parking lot.
Where to Go: No matter what time of year, a walk along the Kelsey Creek Park Nature Trail is truly a sensorial forest experience. In the summer, the sounds of songbirds mix with the babbling of Kelsey Creek, creating a relaxing background rhythm. In the spring, whiffs of skunk cabbage mingle with the sweet smell of maple trees in bloom. In the fall, varied species of deciduous trees create a mosaic of color as leaves change. Winter brings a quieter, sleepier feel, a great place to hike on a sunny winter’s day.
Setting: Neighborhood park featuring farm animals and picturesque barns that is sure to create fond memories. The park features a picnic shelter (50 people max. capacity) with 3 barbeques. No electricity or water available. Barnyard animals available for viewing 9:30 am-3:30 daily. A children’s play area and restrooms.
Best Time to See the Birds: Year round.
Birds Commonly Seen: Various ducks, Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Golden-crowned Kinglets, Coopers Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Great Blue Heron, Winter and Bewicks Wren, Song Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Band-tailed Pigeon, Northern Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker, Steller’s Jay.
