The hike also provides a diversion for those not wishing to join family members shopping at North Bend factory outlets. From the trailhead, a bridge spans the rapids of Humpback Creek, on its way down the hill to join the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Occasional signs on large conifers identify their types; when you reach a junction near a tree marked "Pacific Silver Fir" the trail begins a loop (then you exit the way you came).

Getting There

From Interstate 90 heading east, take Exit 47, and turn right at the end of the exit ramp (on I-90 heading west, take the same exit number but turn left at the end of the exit ramp). At the "T," turn left on the dirt/gravel road and drive a half mile to the parking lot. The trailhead is at the east end of the lot at the kiosk.

Important Information 

• Vault toilets at trailhead. 
• No bikes.
• Leash and scoop laws in effect.
• Know what to do if you encounter a bear (read notice at kiosk).
• Northwest Forest Pass required at trailhead.
