Bob Heirman (Snohomish County) Wildlife Area Field Trip (11/14/02) Highlights
A Red-breasted Sapsucker was almost within arm's reach as it drilled sap holes. There were Trumpeter Swans on the large pond, along with Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Hooded and Common Merganser, Mallard, and American Wigeon. Long-billed Dowitchers fed along the shoreline.
Flocks of Pine Siskin filled the trees and a Fox Sparrow was scoped. Common Goldeneye were seen on the river. A pair of Bald Eagles, sitting in a nest, were scoped at the Snohomish STP. There were 16 birders and 38 species sighted.
