Montlake Fill Field Trip (1/27/03) Highlights
There was a variety of waterfowl in Union Bay including many
Pied-billed Grebes, American Coot, Ruddy Duck, Ring-necked Duck,
Green-winged Teal and one Common Merganser. A sleeping shorebird gave
us a problem in identification until it woke up and we could see the
long bill of a Wilson’s Snipe. Only a couple of us saw a female
Ring-necked Pheasant fly up from near the north end of the wetlands.
There were 7 birders and 30 species sighted.
