Bob Heirman Wildlife Area Field Trip (7/21/01) Highlights

A group of 10 birders led by Joyce Meyer were rewarded with good looks at nearly all of the 41 bird species seen at this wildlife area in Snohomish County.

We were haunted by the call of the Northern Bobwhite while scoping male and female Northern Harrier, Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, Spotted Sandpiper, Mourning Dove, Willow Flycatcher, Common Yellowthroat, Western Tanager, and Black-headed Grosbeak.

Six species of waterfowl were also seen. An American Bittern capped the day with a 10-second flight above the grass.
